The Space Between Us

This passionate embrace between two figures was made using the traditional print making process of Zinc plate Lithography. Lithography is a temperamental medium and the relationship between the printmaker and plate often reflects this tension. A lack of control is given up by the printmaker to the plate as it informs the direction of the image. The watermarks and fingerprints on the plate reveal this physical process, a collaboration of sorts between the print bed and the artist. The title of the work not only references the space between the two characters but also between the artist and the plate.
